In this work, we investigate the possibility to create an acoustic cloak or illusion for a sound wave scattered by a rigid body. Such effect is achieved by placing an array of sensors around the scatterer. We use mathematical models and numerical methods, coupled with optimization algorithms to find the best arrangement of sources for the maximum cloaking effect.
The project is desk-based, and access to NCI high-performance computing facilities is provided.
It is expected that in the end of the project we will have a cloak design framework implemented in a matlab code.
