Description of field of research:

As part of an ongoing project with the Prince of Wales Hospital, we regularly scan dialysis patients using our own freehand ultrasound scanning system, and then develop CFD and benchtop models to understand the fluid dynamics better. You will work with our team to scan patients and analyse the data, optimising the current setup and helping to segment the images to create 3D geometries for 3D printing and CFD analyses. Your project will be to help our team devise a method to gain the detailed geometry of a bluebottle, using 3D photogrammetry software, combined with our refractive index matching process to enable a detailed 3D geometry to be obtained. This model will then be used to 3D print a model for testing and to also obtain a CFD model to determine the effect of wind and current conditions on the trajectory.
