Due to rapid civil and transport development, noise pollution in urban areas has become an important public health concern. Noise barriers with optimal acoustic performance can be an efficient noise control solution. We have developed a design framework, which uses models and methods of computational acoustics paired with shape optimisation algorithms to create the most efficient noise barrier designs. The project aims at extending the design framework from time-harmonic acoustics to time-dependent sound wave propagation.
The project is computer based, and access to NCI high-performance computing facilities is provided.
