Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering

This project will investigate the possibility of developing an ultrasound-guided robot for spinal injections. The main difficulties in this project lie in analysing ultrasound images to provide useful information for the robotic injection. The alignment of the ultrasound system with the robot system is also critical for the accuracy of injection that can be achieved. Highly self-motivated students with strong hands-on skills in image processing, robotics, and/or programming are encouraged to apply. Students do not need to have a biomedical background; students from other schools are also welcome to apply.
