Dr Matt Field is a Senior Bioinformatics Fellow at the Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine. His talk examines how the biological sciences have entered a data-rich era and what this means for the future. Personalised medicine is presented as an example of utilising sequence data effectively for a specific application within the growing field of translational bioinformatics. He explores how to build local bioinformatics capacity to address this.
