Digital storytelling, found poetry and collaborative mural-making are some of the arts-based approaches in qualitative research. A/Prof Susan Cox, from the University of British Columbia will discuss ethical challenges and insights of such approaches and the relationship between ethics, risk and methodological innovation. These have implications for institutional review procedures and for how we, as qualitative researchers, engage in what we believe to be respectful research practices.
