Description

The Recombinant Products Facility has been dedicated to training UNSW researchers and students for over 15 years, fostering the development of high-quality training materials and resources. This commitment has led to outstanding outcomes, with many alumni securing positions in prestigious companies and institutions.

Recognising the rapid growth of the bioprocessing field and the increasing demand for skilled professionals, the Recombinant Products Facility has expanded its training initiatives to include industry professionals and individuals seeking to enhance their bioprocessing expertise.

We are particularly proud to have been selected by CSL to develop and deliver a pilot training programme in downstream processing for monoclonal antibodies (mAbs).  Delivered in 2024, this programme was tailored for CSL staff, encompassing new hires as well as senior scientists with over 20 years of experience, working across process development and large-scale mAb GMP manufacturing.

The feedback from this pilot course was excellent, and it has since been made available to industry as a short course. Additional short courses are also available or currently in development to meet the diverse needs of the bioprocessing community.

Testimonials

The service is always above expectations, from the reception of the constructs to the delivery of the proteins. The team is very professional, extremely knowledgeable and flexible. Hélène gave us constant feedback - so we did quality control as we moved along. This made an incredible difference for us in the end.

- Dr Yann Gambin, EMBL Australia Group Leader - InteracTeam, UNSW

RPF goes above and beyond to deliver on contracted projects, always striving to deliver the best possible service and results. Over the years, we have had a very successful project, and a project plagued with issues, and in both, RPF worked endlessly to bring us the desired result or troubleshoot the problems.

- Dr Ross Hamilton, Senior Research Biologist - Syntara Ltd

Very professional group with great technical knowledge and clear communication. The team at UNSW RPF provide a great service backed by extensive expertise. Results are delivered in timely manner, and there is transparency as to how the assays are conducted. I would work with them again.

Dr Sharon Cunningham, Process Development Analytics Lead - WMF

The RPF course offered an excellent training in the downstream purification process through both comprehensive scientific theory and practice - with hands-on depth filtration, chromatography, and TFF. Each step helped to clarify the rationale behind processing decisions, workflows, equipment selection, sizing, and optimisation.

- Steven Jacovou, Director Biotech Manufacturing Facility - CSL Behring

Massive thank you to the whole team for putting together such a high quality course. Clear and detailed explanations in the theoretical sessions translated into well designed, hands-on practical experience in the lab. The preparation that went into the training was exceptional, and the staff were highly approachable, engaged and knowledgeable.

- Michelle Huang, Scientist at UNSW RNA Institute
