How people make decisions based on online social information

A PhD scholarship is available to work on an ARC funded project investigating the impact of online social information on decision making.

The project seeks to understand the cognitive processes that underlie how people make decisions by sampling views from their personal social networks. The project also examines how social sampling is affected by age and social media access during adolescence.

The PhD project will be jointly supervised by Dr. Christin Schulze, Prof Brett Hayes and A/Prof Susanne Schweizer and is embedded within a larger team of students, a postdoctoral researcher, and international collaborators at the University of Cambridge and the Technical University of Munich.

Scholarship

$39,206 per annum (2026 rate, indexed) for 3.5 years
