Accurately measuring self-reported alcohol use is challenging in any population. These challenges are amplified when surveying populations that are culturally distinct from majority populations, or who experience discrimination and stigma, which can make conversations about drinking threatening. This webinar will discuss why and how the Grog Survey App was developed, and how the lessons learned from its use can inform health promotion and clinical practice.

About the speaker

Born and raised in Darwin, Kylie is an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney, based in Naarm on Wurundjeri Country (in Melbourne). Her research on alcohol and other drug use is led by community or health service requests. Kylie is the lead editor on a clinical textbook requested by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander alcohol and other drug workers nationally. She leads a program of work to improve how we ask people about drinking and drug use, and offer tailored brief intervention, using digital applications.
