This seminar is a brief introduction of the health economic evaluation: costing, utility-based quality of life, cost effectiveness analysis, cost utility analysis, and cost benefit analysis.

It will outline the supporting services health economists offer to researchers at NDARC, and will also discuss the timeline to incorporate a health economic section into grant proposal/manuscript/paper.

Speaker Bio:

Dr Tran has 20 peer reviewed publications. In 2014, she was one of two recipients of the International AIDS Society- National Institutes of Drug Abuse (IAS-NIDA) Postdoctoral fellowship. She finished the fellowship in Health Economics at the Richard Ivey School of Business, Western Ontario University, Canada, with a strong focus on dynamic compartmental transmission modelling in health economic evaluation. She had 4 years of appointments at NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre, University of Sydney as a research fellow and health economist. She gave lectures and provided examination questions for the units “Introduction to Health economic evaluation” and “Health economics: key measures to evaluate medicines” in the Pharmacy and Public Health school. She designed questions for the final exam for a Decision Analysis unit - PUBH5205. She has recently moved back to NDARC as senior research associate, taking responsibility for health economic evaluation for childhood and youth protection programs.
