While still a student at UNSW Art & Design, Adam Oste exhibited his artwork widely. He teamed up with galleries in and around Sydney, participating in group shows and holding solo exhibitions at the Black Gold Gallery in Thirroul, and at Space 44, an exhibition venue dedicated to all things art, music, or creative located in the Sutherland Shire.
Adam’s works have immediate appeal demonstrating an affinity and long-held experience with nature and the sea. With a tendency towards gestural painting and drawing, Adam is able to capture various moods of the ocean, depict changing nuances of water meeting land and the effects of wind in making different types of waves.
In a recent series Adam furthered his exploration of the natural world. His chosen mediums were etching and steel plate relief printing. For inspiration he immersed himself for extended periods of time in the bushland surrounding Sydney, focusing on light, impressions left on the ground, the line of the horizon, and the nighttime sky.
