Exercise science practitioner for 20 years. I am currently focused on researching the benefits of exercise for cardiovascular health and fitness. Prior to entering academia, I gained experience in a variety of roles including exercise prescription and delivery (gyms), cardiac physiology (hospitals - electrocardiography), athlete conditioning, athlete talent identification and corporate health.
Optimising exercise training for chronic illness populations, with an emphasis on HIIT (high-intensity interval training).
We have on-going studies analysing the effect of exercise training (e.g. HIIT vs. moderate-intensity continuous training MICT) on health and fitness (e.g. aerobic fitness; body composition; cardiovascular function).
A current focus is applying HIIT in patients with coronary artery disease within cardiac rehab service.
Listen to my recent ABC Radio National Interview about the benefits of HIIT.
