Snow and frost in a warmer world: assessing alpine plant responses to climate change.
Temperate alpine ecosystems are particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change. The main objective of my research project is to assess response traits, with a focus of phenology, in Australia's alpine plants to past and simulated future climate change scenarios. To do this, I am employing a combination of winter field experiments (snow removal), freezing assays (leaves and reproductive structures), and analysis of natural history (herbarium) records.
