Professor Dong is a Professor of Energy Systems in the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications, UNSW Sydney. He was the Director of UNSW Digital Grid Futures Institute and the ARC Research Hub for Integrated Energy Storage Solutions.  Professor Dong's research interest includes power system planning and stability, smart grid/micro-grid, load modeling, renewable energy grid connection, electricity market, computational methods applications in power engineering problems. He has/had served as editor/associate editor for a number of IEEE transactions and IET journals. He is a Fellow of IEEE, and a Web of Science listed highly cited researcher in 2019, 2020.
