Kean Khoo is a PhD candidate in the School of Photovoltaics and Solar Energy Engineering in UNSW. He completed his Bachelor of Engineering in UNSW in 2016. His research interest lies in the development of high-efficiency solar cells, focusing on the properties thin metal oxide structures as selective carrier contacts to improve passivation. The primary method used to conduct this research is the implementation of atomic layer deposition (ALD). ALD allows for the deposition of complex nanostructures, which opens many avenues of material investigation for the synthesis of new contacts. His research will also involve the adaptation of lab-based ALD process into an industrial pilot line.
