
Prof. Regenauer-Lieb joined UNSW as Head of School of Petroleum Engineering (2014-2018) through a $4 Million SPF01 grant (2014-2020) in “ Excellence for Unconventional Resources Knowledge, Science and Technology" - EUREKA. He obtained is undergraduate degree in Geophysics in Kiel, Germany and continued with a multidisciplinary international career obtaining a first a PhD in the Geothermal Institute, Auckland NZ in collaboration with the Theoretical and Applied Mechanics Department; a second PhD (Habilitation) in geophysics and geodynamics from the Universities of Mainz, followed by employment in the Supercomputer Institute, University of Minnesota, the Swiss ETH Zurich, CSIRO, a Professor and Chair of Geophysics and Geodynamics in Mainz, Germany and a move to Australia in 2006 as a “Premier's Fellow" at the University of Western Australia and CSIRO and Director of the Western Australian Geothermal Centre of Excellence.
