Liwen is a lecturer (equivalent to the rank of assistant professor in North America) at the School of Business from The University of New South Wales, Sydney. She earned a Ph.D. degree in Human Resource and Organizational Behavior from Florida State and a master's degree from Pennsylvania State University. Her research focuses on three main areas: organizational staffing, leadership, and human capital resources. In the area of staffing, she is interested in understanding how individuals seek jobs, how organizations attract and select these individuals, and how they perform after being selected. In the area of leadership, she is interested in factors that influence the perceptions of leadership styles, such as organizational practices and follower characteristics. Her third area of interest concerns how human capital resources emerge and how they contribute to organizational performance. So far, her work has been published in journals, including Journal of Applied Psychology, Human Resources Management Review, and Personnel Review.
