Dr Mari Kondo is a UNSW Vice-Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA), UNSW Sydney. She is also a Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University. Dr Kondo is interested in exploring how our lifestyle and environment affect gene expression and indicators of brain health throughout development and aging.
Prior to joining UNSW, Dr Kondo earned her PhD investigating gene-environment interactions in a mouse model of Rett syndrome at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health (University of Melbourne). She then conducted postdoctoral research at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, USA, investigating the molecular mechanisms involved in schizophrenia and other psychiatric disorders, using tools ranging from mouse models and cell culture, to bioinformatics and next generation sequencing.
