
Dr. M. Tariq Nazir gained his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the School of Electrical Engineering & Telecommunications, University of New South Wales, majoring in high voltage and insulation technology (Energy Systems Research Group). His PhD thesis title is “Study on Degradation of Polymeric Nanocomposite Dielectric Materials Used for High Voltage Outdoor Insulation” (supervisors: B.T. Phung and M. Hoffman). Since 2010, he has been associated with research and teaching in the area of high voltage power lines insulation, power asset failure, condition monitoring and electrical fire hazards. The laboratories he has worked with, in his career include High Voltage Laboratory, UNSW, State Key Laboratory of Electrical Insulation and Power Equipment, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China, State Key Laboratory of Power Transmission Equipment & System Security and New Technology, Chongqing University, Chongqing, China and High Voltage Laboratory, Qassim University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Tariq is a recipient of the UNSW postdoctoral writing fellowship award, Outstanding research performance award of XJTU, Excellent student paper award (ICEMPE,17), Honor graduate student award of Chongqing University (CQU), UNSW-TFS Scholarship, Chinese government scholarship (CSC) award, and several international travel awards including IEEE NSW DEIS Chapter Travel Grant.
Dr. Tariq is also serving as associate editors of "High Voltage" IET, CEPRI & Waley, "Applied Nanoscience" Springer Nature, "Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Materials" Springer Nature, Guest Editor "Polymers -MDPI" and "Frontiers in Materials". He is a Professional Engineer member (MIEAust.) of Engineers Australia, Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Advance HE, UK, Member of Society of Fire Safety (SFS) and Australasian Association for Engineering Education. He is a member of IEEE and Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS). Moreover, he is a member of IEEE young professionals and a member of the Pakistan Engineering Council.
