As a landscape architect and with an interest on anthropogenic landscapes, Nafiseh is studying about landscape affected by bushfire. While there is a significant body of research exists on bushfire prevention and recovery, there is research gap in applying landscape architecture approach to raise awareness of the environmental causes and consequences of bushfire.

In her PhD studies, she will seek to tackle a specific research question of how a landscape architecture approach can socially and culturally engage in reclamation the landscapes damaged by bushfire. She aims to apply environmental art and research through design methodology, and she would specifically focus to build landscape identity which narrates the stories of communities affected by bush fire.
