
Dr. Syed Haris Omar have received PhD in Biomedical Science, with the Faculty of Science Scholarship from School of Biomedical Sciences, Charles Sturt University, Australia. He has started his early career as Clinical Research Investigator and Lecturer at Pharmacy School. Dr. Haris has investigated the neuroprotective beneficial effects of phenolic compound (biophenols) in olives against in vitro (SH-SY5Y cells) and in vivo (APPswe Mice) Alzheimer’s disease models, through the enzymes inhibition (AChE, BChE, BACE-1, HDAC, and Tyrosinase), cell lines protection and protection against free radicals and amyloid-beta toxicity in the transgenic mice brain. His research area falls in the field of neuroscience especially prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's Disease, further interested in clinical research (dementia, obesity and ageing) but not limited. He has demonstrated the experiences of membership in Human Research Ethics Committee along with the teaching and research. As an author, Dr. Haris has published several peer-reviewed journal articles including research and reviews along with the book chapters and conference proceedings. Currently Dr. Haris is serving as reviewer and Editorial Board Member in several Journals of repute, and associated with various domestic and international scientific societies as a member. His sustained academic efforts and contributions to advancement in the field of biomedical science/medicine research has been recognized nationally and internationally, and received awards from several organisations.
