I obtained my PhD degree at University of Sydney in Sydney. I worked at Finisar Australia from 2009 to 2019 as a R&D mechanical design engineer. The Finisar WSS design team was awarded the PRIME MINISTER’S PRIZE FOR INNOVATION in 2018. My role mainly focused on providing module cooling, hermetic package design, optics & electrical components stress-free mounting and PCB & flex layout design for the wavelength selective switch(WSS).
The WSS is a highly integrated opto-electro-mechanical system used in the 5G network. To design the product with a low profile, good thermal performance, high reliability and competitive price. I need to work closely with the R&D, electrical engineering, component engineering and NPI engineering teams to provide the 3D model of the complex system as well as perform the corresponding finite element analysis to prove the design concept. Consequently, I have a solid experience with simulating the thermal expansion of optical components and silicone chips within complex flow environment and welding process, validating the thermal performance of the core chip and optical components under forced/natural convection flow, as well as investigating module structure stability during the mechanical shock and vibration.
