The contribution of invertebrate reefs to nitrous oxide emissions

Nitrous oxide is a potent greenhouse gas, yet we know little about its sources and production in the ocean. My PhD is building from my honours research where we measured the abundance of a subtidal invertebrate and solidified its contribution to coastal nitrous production. Now, I am trying to understand the mechanisms of nitrous oxide production in invertebrates more broadly and understand the abundances of these animals which produce nitrous oxide, so we can better inform coastal nitrous oxide budgets.

I also hold a degree in Fine Arts at UNSW and freelance as an artist, where some of my artistic illustrations have been used in scientific journal articles. Feel free to contact me about science/art work and projects!
