In 2011, UNSW commenced a review of all undergraduate programs offered at the University. The review is ongoing, and new programs and program revisions will be progressively introduced for students starting in 2012 and beyond.
The changes reflect UNSW’s commitment to offer flexible degrees that give students a wide variety of study options and career paths, whilst maintaining the academic standards demanded of a UNSW graduate. Students will continue to choose their preferred program from their first year, but will have greater flexibility to tailor their studies.
The changes coming into effect in 2012 include:
- Greater freedom to choose electives in a number of programs, such as the Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Science, and combine these programs with other programs.
- More courses offered in the summer term, enabling students to fast-track their studies and/or tailor their study plans to fit their priorities.
- Greater portability for students who wish to transfer from one program to another and who meet the entry requirements of the new program, with maximum credit transfer possible for courses completed in the original program.
- A choice for students to undertake new diplomas concurrent with their primary programs, such as the Diploma in Languages.
