The problem
The disruption of COVID-19 greatly impacted the creative community in Sydney. Opportunities for university students and staff, industry and the broader creative community to connect diminished significantly during and in the aftermath of the pandemic.
Our approach
Creative Conversations was a public discussion series designed to explore and untangle critical developments in the creative industries. The series unpacks contemporary innovations and hot creative topics from diverse perspectives, stimulating connection through conversation to ensure a thriving creative community in Sydney.
Creative Conversations harnesses the collective power of today’s changemakers, creative thinkers and visionaries. It provides a platform for networking and helps foster mutually beneficial pathways for collaboration for UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture (ADA) graduates, industry and creative studios.
The outcome
The ADA Innovation Hub has hosted three conversations at UNSW Art & Design’s Paddington campus to date. Founder, CEO and Executive Creative Director of Frost*collective, Vince Frost, has chaired panels of artists, creative thinkers and visionaries, business and legal experts, designers and agile scientists. These leading changemakers work across experimental startups, design innovation studios, immersive technologies, industry and academia.
These dynamic discussions have explored Creative Disruptions, the challenges and opportunities posed by the rapid developments in Artificial Intelligence (AI); the journey from honing your craft to Scaling a Creative Business, with experts sharing lessons, learnings, and aha moments; and the transformative Power of Multisensory Design and its ability to impact behaviour in both real and virtual environments.
