Each year, the CVMM Symposium brings together leading experts and researchers in the field of cardiac, vascular, and metabolic medicine for a day of engaging talks, panel discussions, poster presentations, and cross-institute networking. For 2023, we were fortunate enough to host our symposium at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, where we welcomed our three keynote speakers: David Lloyd, Chief Executive Officer of the Heart Foundation; Catherine Kellick, Principal Policy Officer from Office for Health and Medical Research; and Jason Kovacic, President of The Australian Cardiovascular Alliance and the Executive Director of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.
The Symposium program covered a wide range of topics, from basic science to clinical medicine, in diverse fields of CVMM including consumer engagement, urban health, artificial intelligence, new drugs and therapies, and clinical trials. The sessions were led by both senior and early to mid-career researchers and featured a range of short sessions covering the latest advancements, breakthroughs, and challenges in this rapidly evolving field.
