The Centre for the Future of the Legal Profession examines the forces reshaping legal practice in Australia and internationally. Based within UNSW Law & Justice, it generates independent research to assist the profession respond to emerging challenges while supporting innovation, leadership and evidence-informed decision-making.

Working closely with legal practitioners, regulators, courts, professional associations and other parts of the legal sector, the Centre translates research into practical outcomes through executive education, leadership programs, industry partnerships and national forums. Its work explores artificial intelligence, LegalTech, professional ethics, interpersonal skills, workplace culture, leadership, diversity and access to justice, providing insights that help the profession prepare for a rapidly changing legal landscape.

The Centre is also recognised as a trusted voice on the future of legal practice, contributing to public debate, policy development and professional capability through research, thought leadership and collaboration. By connecting research with practice, it supports a legal profession that is innovative, ethical and equipped to meet the changing needs of society.

A legal profession and cross-discipline informed Leadership for Lawyers executive program, in addition to a series of exclusive programs designed to create continued dialogue.

Executive legal education

Including a new course for in-house counsel. Led by Professor Michael Legg and David Field, Chief Legal Counsel at Canon Oceania. ​

Think Tank workshops

A series of intimate, invitation-only Think Tank workshops for leaders across various industries coming together to dissect, discuss and help shape responses to complex issues.​
