Lieutenant Commander Lachlan Turner RAN
Lieutenant Commander Lachlan Turner joined the RAN in 2012 as a Maritime Warfare Officer, graduating from the Australian Defence Force Academy with a Bachelor of Business in 2015. Initial sea service in the patrol boats ADV Cape Nelson and HMAS Launceston saw the completion of domestic constabulary operations off Northern Australia.
He was subsequently awarded his Bridge Warfare Certificate in HMAS Ballarat before deploying to the Indo-Pacific and Middle East. While deployed he held duties as Boarding Officer, and Naval Liaison Officer to French Navy aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and multiple US warships conducting Strait of Hormuz transits under escort.
Lieutenant Commander Turner specialised as a Principal Warfare Officer (Surface Warfare) in 2020, receiving the Sydney-Emden Prize, Sword of Excellence and dux of Specialisation, Theory and Systems phases. Completion of the AEGIS Combat Systems Officer Course with the US Navy resulted in a posting to HMAS Sydney as her Gunnery Officer.
As a Principal Warfare Office he has deployed in support of Regional Presence Deployment 21-4 and 22-3, as well as completing numerous force generation exercises.
