GenV Intervention Hub

The GenV Intervention Hub is a national research infrastructure designed to support large-scale intervention trials and population evaluations that can improve the physical, mental and social health of children and adults across the life course. Building on the Generation Victoria cohort, the Hub aims to create a sustainable, scalable platform for testing interventions at population scale.

The challenge

Australia is facing a growing burden of chronic disease. Yet the research systems needed to rapidly test, refine and scale effective solutions remain limited. Two critical life stages for prevention, childhood and pre-mid-adulthood, are especially underrepresented in intervention research.

Our approach

The Hub will build on Generation Victoria (GenV), a large-scale research resource with 125,000 children and pre-midlife adults consented to detailed in-person and electronic data collection, longitudinal follow-up, biosample storage, data linkage and future contact for trials. It will include a research-ready platform, a digital front door called ASK GenV, dedicated intervention services, and proof-of-value research including at least two major trials by 2028-29.

• Build a national platform to plan, run and evaluate large-scale intervention trials.

• Support interdisciplinary, community-prioritised intervention research.
• Generate evidence on effectiveness, cost-effectiveness and implementation.
• Deliver policy-relevant outcomes that can reduce the long-term burden of chronic disease.
• Establish a sustainable long-term business case for population-scale trial infrastructure.

Evaluation & impact

The Hub is designed to become a mature, first-in-world trials infrastructure with the scale, diversity and long-term follow-up needed to support preventive, predictive and early intervention research.
