Health Services Implementation and Economics Enabling Platform (HSIE)

HSIE supports the design, evaluation and scale-up of health system interventions aimed at reducing inequities in child health access and outcomes. Its flagship program, PEACH-E, is a co-designed, system-wide initiative focused on improving care for children from priority populations across SCHN.

The challenge

Children from priority populations continue to face significant barriers to accessing timely, high-quality care, due to fragmented service delivery, socioeconomic disadvantage and systemic inequities.

Our approach

HSIE brings together implementation science, health services research and economic evaluation to support the development and testing of interventions that improve equity across the care journey. Through PEACH-E, the platform evaluates and strengthens strategies for around 41,000 children and young people from priority populations.

Key goals

• Reduce inequities in child health access and outcomes for priority populations.

• Evaluate the effectiveness, acceptability, feasibility and fidelity of system-wide interventions.

• Generate evidence on cost-effectiveness and value for health services and policymakers.

• Co-design sustainable and scalable models of care with families, clinicians and communities.

• Develop a framework to support wider implementation across NSW and nationally.

Evaluation & impact

Over its four-year program, HSIE will deliver baseline and longitudinal evaluations of the PEACH program's impact, measure cost-effectiveness, produce detailed economic modelling, and develop a sustainability and policy translation framework.
