Description
Retrofitting care spaces is a joint project between the UNSW School of Built Environment in the Faculty of Arts Design and Architecture and the International Centre for Future Health Systems.
This PhD project focuses on the retrofit of care spaces and associated health outcomes. It sits at the interface between built environment and future health systems research, with opportunities to apply techniques from both disciplines to inform the design and planning of future health systems. This work is expected to expand consideration of health across architectural and built environments to contribute to UNSW’s Strategy of ‘better, equitable health for all’.
The PhD candidate will be enrolled with the School of Built Environment in the Faculty of Arts Design and Architecture and will work collaboratively with the International Centre for Future Health Systems (ICFHS) based in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia.
The successful candidate will be jointly supervised by Prof Philip Oldfield, Head, School of Built Environment and ICFHS Senior Research Fellow Dr Shona Bates, International Centre for Future Health Systems.
Scholarship
$39,206 per annum (2026 rate, indexed) for 3.5 years
