Using cross-sectoral data linkage to explore the health trajectories of justice-involved people: Opportunities and challenges
People exposed to the criminal justice system often have complex, co-occurring health problems that necessitate coordinated, multidisciplinary care. In this presentation, Stuart briefly described and presented selected findings from three NHMRC-funded cohort studies examining health and health service outcomes for justice-involved populations.
Stuart Kinner is a professor of health equity at Curtin University and the head of the Justice Health Group, which spans Curtin University and Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. His research focuses on health services and outcomes for people who come into contact with the criminal justice system. He has produced 300+ publications, including 224 peer-reviewed papers, and attracted $29 million+ in research funding. Stuart Chairs Australia’s National Youth Justice Health Advisory Group and serves on the National Prisoner Health Information Committee and the WHO Health in Prisons Programme Steering Group.
