Expertise
Professor Middleton is a distinguished researcher in healthcare research and leadership in stroke care and nursing. She has earned several national and international awards for her work in reducing mortality through nurse-initiate protocols which have been implemented in 72 hospitals across 18 European countries. Her leadership has been recognized nationally, including winner of the 2023 Australian Cardiovascular Alliance Translation Award, and internationally, by the American Heart Association Council on Cardiovascular and Stroke Nursing, 2023 Stroke Article of the Year. She is a member of multiple state and national committees, research review panels, and community engagement initiatives. Overall, Professor Middleton's multifaceted contributions span research, leadership, and innovation, marking her as a key influencer in advancing stroke care and nursing research in Australia and beyond.
