Mission

SVMG at UNSW, Sydney is focused on bioengineering research, training and translation using the latest technologies. We're centred around the motivation to improve treatment outcomes and enable early risk detection for cardiovascular patients.

Values

Teamwork • Excellence • Inclusivity

Impact

Our academic performance generates new insights and guidelines to transform clinical practice. We work closely with national and international clinicians, hospitals and medical research centres, including the Prince of Wales HospitalVictor Chang Cardiac Research Institute and Intracare.

Get involved

Students

  • Be part of a supportive, diverse and collaborative research environment to excel.
  • Access to a range of funding and scholarship opportunities for PhD and general research.
  • Join us at UNSW with world-class facilities as a top 50 global university.

Several exciting PhD research projects evolved from this vision. Major research projects led by our graduate students include the Coronary Atlas, stent design optimisation and early risk prediction through machine learning. These topics are standalone, independent research topics or directly initiated and guided by the biomedical industry. They focus on computer engineering, and computer science, exploring general engineering principles, biological processes and translational research to improve human health. Researchers

Get involved in the largest Sydney-biomedical program dedicated to cardiovascular modelling. Our engineering team work across fundamental to applied vascular research. We aim to improve the understanding of underlying mechanisms, optimise treatment outcomes and enable better prevention using the latest bioengineering and biomedical technologies.

Industry

We work with various companies across different settings from contract research, to short- and long-term joint innovative projects and in a collaborative setting.

Philanthropy

If you are considering sponsoring our work, this can be done directly through donations and philanthropic funding campaigns through UNSW Alumni & Giving.
