Deficits in behavioural inhibitory control are reported in substance abuse, including alcohol, yet few studies consider the possibility of sex differences in the relationship between heavy alcohol use and disinhibition. Here, we meta-analyse several studies to determine whether there are sex differences in the relationship between heavy alcohol use and disinhibition.
