Summary

The present intervention is intended to provide an efficacious, brief intervention for clients with cannabis dependence disorder. While is it designed specifically for cannabis problems, the general therapeutic approach uses a standard cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) framework. As such, it is ideal for use by health care professionals skilled in cognitive-behavioural counselling techniques, and preferably also with knowledge of substance abuse issues. It should be noted that these criteria do not limit the users of this program only to clinical psychologists. General medical practitioners, clinical nurse consultants, and social and other health care workers with appropriate backgrounds will find this intervention a useful addition to their clinical resources.
