Honouring Dr Prasannah Prabhakharan
UNSW Aviation will host a special tribute event on 8 May 2025 to honour the life and legacy of Dr Prasannah Prabhakharan, a passionate advocate for road safety.

This year we lost a cherished and esteemed colleague in Dr Prasannah Prabhakharan (1986-2025). Prasannah was also a valued member of the Australasian College of Road Safety (ACRS) and Transport for NSW community, where his passion for the goal of zero road deaths had a profound impact.
UNSW Aviation was proud to host a special event honouring Prasannah on Thursday 8 May 2025 at the Old Main Building on campus at UNSW Kensington. The evening combined tributes from his road safety and academic colleagues, with a fresh initiative, “the PhD Invitational”.
Selected PhD candidates each gave a presentation on their fields of study relating to road safety. A beacon of hope for the future of road safety, Prasannah’s legacy will live on through the impact he made in road safety and the lives he touched along the way.
ACRS members as well as Prasannah’s broader road safety, academic colleagues and members of Prasannah’s family were in attendance in a packed theatre. Everyone stayed to share stories about Prasannah at the networking event after the presentations.
Speak thanks to Neil Lawrence, Pej Keshvardoust, Yassmin Ebrahim, Kardina Ayuningtyas, Gradiyan Pratama, Ma Nan, Max Boripat Ratchaneepun, Vanessa Huron, Kathleen Mariner, Lorda Omeissah, Brett Molesworth, and Mick Timms for their help in making the event happen.
