Introducing UNSW Women in Aviation
UNSW Aviation has launched a new student-led initiative, UNSW Women in Aviation, to promote greater diversity and representation in the field. Backed by AvSoc, Women in Aviation International, and the School, the program officially formed its inaugural Executive in March 2025.

To mark UNSW Aviation’s commitment to increasing diversity in aviation, the School has supported the creation of a UNSW Women in Aviation club, dedicated to supporting and improving the representation of women in aviation.
The initiative led by Business Development Manager, Lorda Omeissah saw the formation of the UNSW Women in Aviation student-led club in March this year. The club will work in alignment with and as part of UNSW Aviation’s student society, AvSoc and be responsible for driving better outcomes related to women in aviation. To ensure a symbiotic and functioning relationship, the President of the UNSW Women in Aviation club will also be Co-President of AvSoc.
The club will also have a chapter affiliation with the international organisation, Women in Aviation International (WAI) and will maintain an advisory group at the associate membership level. Stay tuned for the exciting work that this club will be doing both in the education sector, as well as the community sector.
Calls for Expressions of Interest to form the first executive team of UNSW Women in Aviation were made in March this year. As a result, the inaugural Executive was formed on 3 March 2025 and announced at the first joint event, the AvSoc and UNSW Women in Aviation joint panel discussion on Women in Aviation: They are:
