Current Affairs in Aviation Short Course 2024
During the Spring school holidays, we hosted an inspiring group of high school students for the Current Affairs in Aviation Short Course. With insights from industry experts and researchers, students got a glimpse of life as an aviation student at UNSW.

We had a fantastic two days with a wonderful group of high school students during their school holidays for our Current Affairs in Aviation Short Course recently.
This course is run each Spring school holiday break, and is designed for students interested in a future career in aviation to get a taste of what it’s like to be an Aviation student at UNSW by learning from industry experts and world leading researchers on key areas of aviation. UNSW Aviation is proud to be supporting the Royal Flying Doctor Service (SE Section) with the donation of 100% of the registration fees for this course.
We are always grateful for the time and effort given by the presenters, both from the School and from industry. Their real-world insights and experience enable us to give the students a unique opportunity to learn from professionals.
Special thanks to our industry convenors who gave up their time to inspire the students. This included Graham Doig, (UNSW Aviation) who gave an inspiring talk on Drones; Stevan Sipka, Wayne Daly and alumnus Clem Wu (Qantas), alumna Robyn Thomson, Jessie Huynh (Sydney Airport), James Bradbury and Brett Reynish (RFDS), Krish Thakkar and Aashaya Bharambe (AvSoc), Rodney Hyde, Nicholas Bailey and Jeremy Andrews (FOU), and Vanessa Huron and Brett Molesworth (UNSW Aviation).
The enthusiasm, curiosity and in-depth knowledge of the students blew us away – the future in aviation is looking bright!
