UNSW Aviation is proud to announce the appointment of Dr Graham Doig as head of its new drone program. Graham is an entrepreneur who founded his own start up in California developing long range large electric cargo drones, working with the US Air Force, the National Science Foundation, and the Australian Government to advance novel aerodynamic technologies. He previously worked on electric flight through R&D projects with Lockheed Martin, Joby Aviation, and NASA. Graham is an experienced aeronautical engineer, a well-published academic and researcher, and a UNSW alumnus who was deeply involved in the university’s solar racing team Sunswift having helped design two record-breaking vehicles.

Graham is the perfect package to deliver the skills and knowledge required for students of our new program - the Bachelor of Aviation in Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems - to graduate as fully rounded aviation professionals ready to fly, analyse, manage, and lead in the fast-growing field of remote and autonomous aviation. Those graduates will bring an entrepreneurial mindset to industry, ready to experiment and innovate as fresh opportunities to create social and economic impact emerge; and they will be among the first in any university program worldwide to gain hands-on experience with next-generation technology like large platforms operating in integrated airspace.
