Welcome from the Head of School

Our school is one of Australia’s leading centres of teaching and research excellence in humanities and languages. Our mission is to educate our students to become global citizens through critical thinking skills, historical, cultural and linguistic understanding, language learning, and an informed engagement with the world.

Our approach to teaching and research is interdisciplinary, multilingual and global. Our teachers are among the most appreciated by students across UNSW and provide the critical skills, historical perspectives, language proficiency, and sociocultural and environmental insights that equip you for a thriving career with a global perspective.

Through all our activities, we aim to engage with traditions and communities, enhance knowledge and practice, and enable positive social change.
