FAQs

  • No. UNSW Identity Manager is used to reset the password for your zID only.

    For example, if you need to reset a password for a bespoke application or a test system, please contact the IT Service Centre directly for assistance.
     

  • Please contact the UNSW IT Service Centre to change your UNSW email address.
     

  • Please allow up to 10 minutes for your new zID password to be replicated and synchronised across UNSW systems.
     

  • Yes. Within UNSW Identity Manager use the Forgot your password service.

    Important: Please ensure that you have registered a personal email address or mobile phone number in your myUNSW profile. Otherwise, you will not be able to use the service and will have to contact the UNSW IT Service Centre for assistance.

     

  • Yes. You can activate your zID account without a phone number or email address using the Are you new here? service within UNSW Identity Manager.
    Once you have activated your zID, login to myUNSW and update your Staff Profile Personal Information with either a registered personal email or mobile phone number. 

    Important: Please ensure that you have registered a personal email address or mobile phone number in your myUNSW profile. Otherwise, you will not be able to use the UNSW Identity Manager services and will have to contact the UNSW IT Service Centre for assistance.

     

  • Cyber Security is everyone's responsibility and by learning a few rules, simple steps, and following guidelines we can protect ourselves and our university from cyber security threats and keep data safe. 
     
    Please visit the Cyber Security Training and Awareness webpage for guidance and to access the Cyber Security Awareness eLearning module. The online training module is mandatory for all staff to complete.
     

Staff forms for account access

  • OSA 02 - Account access for contractors and visiting academics

    The OSA 02 form provides access to UNSW email, the UniWide wireless service, eLearning, shared folders and printers currently for contractors and visiting academics.

    For help completing the form, check out the OSA 02 user guide.

    If you're a current staff member employed via HR, speak with your HR Business Partner to activate or extend your staff account.

    If you're a Mac or Windows user, please open the application form in Adobe Acrobat Reader/Adobe Acrobat Pro. If you open the form in another program such as Preview for Mac, you may not be able to the complete or submit the form.

  • The System Operator Account (SA) creation form is for an Administrative Support Account. Please note the form must be completed and submitted by the manager. This is a requirement for approval.

Reporting cyber incidents

It is important to report any cyber security incidents as quickly as possible so that UNSW IT’s Cyber Security team can address any issues and mitigate risk exposure.

What should I report?

  • Suspecting your computer or account has been compromised.
  • Having evidence on how technology or University data may be vulnerable.
  • Noticing a colleague inappropriately sharing Highly Sensitive or Sensitive data.
  • Losing a University asset containing sensitive information.
