Emma Price
Emma Price is an artist, curator, mentor and founding member of the legendary all female artist collective The Kingpins, as well as a member of the Millennial ‘Imperial Slacks’ collective. Price is also a founding director of The Bearded Tit in Redfern, a bar and exhibition space made by artists for artists, with a strong focus on inclusive and supportive cultural programming. As both a practitioner and curator, she is interested in creative collaboration, community, and contingent aesthetics.
Emma Price curated Performance Contemporary for Sydney Contemporary's 2015 and 2017 edition at Carriageworks. She was co-creator and curator of the popular annual event Day for Night at Performance Space, including being an exhibiting artist in 2016, where she created ’24 H(OUR) DINER’. Price works as a mentor and dramaturg across disciplines, including appointments for Performance Space’s Stephen Cummings Bequest and Liveworks. Her sold-out MCA ARTBAR of 2013, ‘Art is for Lovers’, put Chicks On Speed on the rooftop, with dancing on the ceiling.
From 2000, Price performed and exhibited with Angelica Mesiti, Técha Noble, and Katie Price in The Kingpins, in Korea, Taiwan, Tokyo, London, Paris, Switzerland, and all across Australia. Their work is held in the Kaldor Public Art ‘MOVE’ project, Artbank, MCA and AGNSW collections, with her own collection in 2018, featuring in Collectors Space, as part of Sydney’s Art Month. Price has sat on the Artist Advisory Board, MCA and Artspace Boards, as well as Kudos Gallery Inaugural Board in 1998-2000.
Emma Price holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts from UNSW Art & Design.
