Nathan Yong
Nathan Yong completed a Master of Design.
Based in Singapore and leading his own multidisciplinary international design consultancy, Nathan Yong is in demand. His practice spans the realms of industrial design, interiors, graphics, architecture, furniture, lighting, tableware, manufacturing and branding. Nathan's work can be found in showrooms across London, Cologne, Milan, Shanghai, Sydney, and Singapore, just to name a few.
A graduate of UNSW Art & Design, Nathan says he’s driven by a vision of perfect simplicity - subtle, efficient, and cleverly constructed. Whether the end result is a chair, light, building or a vase, he incorporates natural symmetry, balanced lines, and a sense of space and lightness.
Over his career Nathan has been a key designer for a number of international design houses, including the iconic French furniture brand Ligne Roset for whom he’s created a furniture and lighting range that blends classic East Asian aesthetics with European sensibilities. One of his more recent products, the Parachute hanging light, aligns satin black lacquered steel wire in a complementary shape to his Paraffin candleholders and the Elisabeth seating collection.
The recipient of many awards, including the 2008 Singapore President’s Design Award for Designer of the Year, the highest accolade for any designer in the nation, admirers and collectors of his work are assured of simplicity, beautiful materials, attention to detail and an elegant economy.
