Nisa Mackie
Some people have clear ideas in life about what they would like to do and where they wish to go. Nisa Mackie is one of them. She’s always loved events and exhibitions that explore creativity. She’s also always yearned for travel.
For her undergraduate degree, Nisa combined both of these interests in a joint creative administration and international studies degree. But this wasn’t enough. Nisa wanted to make sure that she had the theoretical insight and professional experience to ensure that she could build a career organising events for major international festivals. So she enrolled in a Master of Art degree at UNSW Art & Design examining art theory as well as sculpture, installation, and performance. Nisa then went on to become the public program and education manager at the Biennale of Sydney and was last year recruited by the presitigious and pioneering Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota (one of the coldest regions in the United States) as a director and curator of their education and public programs. Though a big change from Sydney, Nisa's now become accustomed to snowy winters.
