Description

  • August 24, 2021
  • Speaker: Bill von Hippel
  • Topic: Discovering Your Own Name On A Wall Of Shame

Abstract

In this talk I discuss how a colleague’s post on FB led me to discover my own name at the bottom of a list of social psychologists that was sorted by the replicability of their work. That discovery led to a collaboration and joint blog with the creator of the list and the Replicability Index. I’ll discuss our collaboration and what this experience taught me about replication, the role of theory in the social sciences, and how to balance failed and successful replication efforts.
