Exercise Physiology students in the UNSW Medicine Lifestyle Clinic

The Lifestyle Clinic is a centre of excellence providing physical activity, lifestyle and health programs for the prevention and management of chronic disease, injury and disability. Run by the School of Health Sciences within UNSW Medicine & Health, the clinic has strong links with researchers and clinicians in the fields of cardiovascular and metabolic health, cancer treatment, brain health, mental health, and musculoskeletal health

The clinic is staffed by Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) with extensive experience in exercise therapy and rehabilitation. To ensure maximum health outcomes, AEPs work closely with medical practitioners and other allied-health professionals.

Our services are centred on the principles of self-management and sustained long-term changes in health behaviours, ranging from intensely supervised (one-to-one), to home-based (independent) programs.

Our team

Our team takes a multidisciplinary approach to health science. We work with people to understand their current health status, their lifestyle and approaches to health and wellbeing. Our staff in the lifestyle clinic use evidence-based practice and the latest research to improve patient health.

Community programs

Our focus is on partnering with the community to help improve health outcomes. We specialise in programs for chronic and complex health conditions, inspiring physical activity across lifespans and general exercise, sports science, and wellbeing. Programs are offered face-to-face or virtually, for those who are unable to travel or attend the clinic.

Student programs

Our Lifestyle Clinic is a teaching clinic where students deliver services prescribed by our clinicians under strict supervision. Alongside 4th year research students, we also cater to honours, Independent Learning Projects (ILP), and postgraduate research projects.

Research projects

Our research projects focus on the science that underpins physical activity and exercise and how it can be designed to improve health, implement treatment and exercise programs, and translate research into practical applications.
