Artist statement

Somebody with a hammer  makes two disparate images adjacent in order to consider how illegible words might be read, how imagery can be entitled to secrets and how painting can suggest boundaries and render them soft. Using plywood and diluted acrylic paint the work is as much about its support material as it is about painting and imagery. Using an indecipherable collection of words to disrupt all that is otherwise decisive and intricate about painting an image.
