Artist statement

Addisonian crisis is a large-scale installation work that uses bleached fabric, plastic and text to depict the ‘rollercoaster ride’ of symptoms and emotions the artist experiences living with a chronic autoimmune condition (Addison’s disease). The installation engages with the intimidating and overwhelming feelings that the artist associates with their diagnosis through its size, causing viewers to share in this experience. It was created by screenprinting the artists’ thoughts and symptoms repeatedly onto the materials.
