The brief

Through consideration of the systemic crisis of climate change how can critical design, through textiles and costume, generate discourse about the global north. Including the practical application of sculpture and kombucha leather.

Student reflection

Having the option of dedicating myself to Honours, with a singular body of work stretched over a year, was an extremely fulfilling opportunity. It allowed me to explore a deeper understanding of both my physical and theoretical practice. Through discipline, honours allowed me to tackle large concepts and design issues in our society that seem too overwhelming to most. Undergoing a thorough and critical research practice allowed me to create a more holistic design ethos I now utilize throughout my career.

Georgia Harper is a student in the Bachelor of Design (Honours).
